Production databases, provisioned in minutes.
BasePilot provisions and operates PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Valkey, libSQL and NATS clusters on Hetzner Cloud, UpCloud, your own cloud account or your own servers. Encrypted connections, replication, backups and monitoring are built in.
Billed per node and hour. No minimum term.

What BasePilot takes care of
The operational work a production database requires is in place from the first minute, and remains under your control.
Encrypted connections
TLS is mandatory. Every cluster receives its own certificate authority so clients can verify the server; alternatively, you supply your own certificate.
Replication and automatic failover
Run up to three nodes per cluster. If the primary becomes unavailable, BasePilot promotes a replica and rebuilds the failed node.
Backups and restore
Scheduled backups are written to object storage at the interval and retention you define, and can be restored into a new cluster. PostgreSQL and libSQL also restore to any point in time.
Query studio
Browse and edit data, run queries, and import or export tables directly in the browser, without installing a client.
Monitoring and notifications
Connections, storage, throughput and replication lag are recorded every minute. Your team is notified by email when a cluster is degraded or a backup fails.
Updates in your maintenance window
Minor releases and host patches are applied node by node within the window you choose. PostgreSQL major versions are upgraded using a blue-green procedure.
Access control
Restrict each cluster to permitted IP addresses, manage database users centrally and assign roles within your organization. Two-factor authentication and passkeys are available for every account.
Hourly billing
Usage is charged per node and hour against prepaid credit, itemized per cluster. You are notified in good time before your credit runs out.
Supported database engines
PostgreSQL and libSQL are generally available. The remaining engines are offered as a beta.
| Engine | Versions | Point-in-time restore | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| PostgreSQLRelational | 17, 16, 15 | Yes | Generally available |
| MySQLRelational | 8.4 | No | Beta |
| MariaDBRelational | 11.4, 10.11 | No | Beta |
| MongoDBDocument store | 8, 7 | No | Beta |
| ValkeyKey-value store | 8, 7 | No | Beta |
| libSQLRelational, SQLite-compatible | 0.24 | Yes | Generally available |
| NATSMessaging and streaming | 2.11, 2.10 | No | Beta |
You decide where your databases run
Every cluster is operated the same way, regardless of who owns the servers.
- Provided by BasePilot
- We provide the servers on Hetzner Cloud or UpCloud in the region you select. Infrastructure and operation are billed together.
- Your own cloud account
- Connect your Hetzner Cloud or UpCloud account with an API token. The servers run in your account and are billed to you by the provider; BasePilot charges a service fee for operating them.
- Your own servers
- Add existing Ubuntu servers over SSH. BasePilot installs the database, links the nodes through an encrypted WireGuard network and operates them like any other cluster.
